Selection and Recruitment

Vacancies will be advertised in the local press and nursing Journals on a weekly basis. All applicants will be required to complete a standard job application form and return it to the office. Suitable candidates will be invited for an interview. There, they will be asked to bring the following documents to the interview with them:

Evidence of vaccination status (i.e. vaccination card/letter from the G.P),

2 x passport photos.

Relevant training certificates (i.e. manual handling, first aid, infection control, food hygiene etc)

Overseas applicants (non European) will be required to produce a work visa

In addition, Registered Nurses will also need to bring: -

NMC Pin Card plus statement of entry onto the Register.

Evidence of professional Indemnity Cover (i.e. RCN membership)

During the recruitment and selection process applicants will to confirm if they have any current or spent criminal offenses of which will be taken into consideration. All potential employees will be subject to a criminal records check before work is offered. If it emerges that information regarding convictions has been withheld, it will result in immediate withdrawal of any employment offer.

A criminal record does not automatically mean you cannot be offered employment; the manager will take the nature and timing of the offense into consideration. Any criminal conviction that occurs while you are already being employed by the agency should be reported as soon as possible to the manager.

The manager at the agency office will conduct interviews. Interviews will assess applicants fairly, asking a structure of questions to each individual. All applicants are interviewed and placed solely on the basis of merit, irrespective of race, religion, disability, age and gender. We do not discriminate in advertising for, or selection of, temporary workers. Each employment opportunity is open equally to those who have the required qualifications or abilities.

An interview record form will be completed for all interviews undertaken and signed by the interviewer. At the end of the interview process, the manager will complete a summary of interview, including a summary of reasons for rejecting unsuccessful applicants.

All successful applicants must demonstrate: -

Satisfactory references from two sources (to include their most recent employer if applicable).

Satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check done by the agency.

Information on criminal offenses will be kept confidential and secure and will only be disclosed under special circumstances like legal proceedings or a case to an industrial tribunal. In such a case, the

employee will be informed before release of information.

All CRB disclosure forms to be retained before CSCI inspection.

All CRB will be completely destroyed by suitable means and kept secure when waiting to be destroyed.

Date and serial number of destroyed CRB disclosure form will be kept electronically for future reference.

Upon receipt of a satisfactory CRB check and two references, formal Terms and Conditions of employment will be issued. This must be signed and returned before employment can commence.
